So does the Akira class not have any rear-facing torpedo launchers? The ship seemed to be designed with violent confrontation in mind, why wouldn't it have aft launchers. I understand Klingon ships not necessarily having aft weapons, due to their opinions on honor... but a Federation starship should...

I would be highly amused, if I were not so disappointed and disturbed that I completely forgot to post the link... :(

Anyone ever see this?

I was poking around online and I came across this site. It seems to be an emulation of the LCARS systems... whatever its purpose, the menu system is quite lovely.

I would say the Federation and the Klingon Empire (IN THE SHOW) have nicely balanced fleets. If you play something like Armada II ... every fleet is balanced in some way, since they add bunches of new ships for all the in-between roles. The Romulans have finally added something between the D'Deridex...

I think Starfleet ships are built for exploration and diplomacy, but are capable of combat. There are big-bads out in the universe, and it would be foolish not to arm our ships to defend themselves. So, non-military vessels armed for combat, with non-military commanders capable of making military de...

Ten-Forward Nomenclature

Hypothetical situation in the Star Trek Universe (for my fic): Say you are in Starfleet, serving aboard a Galaxy class or Sovereign class vessel... Say your captain decides that the lounge in deck ten, forward compartment needs a more creative name than that, so he creates a contest to find one, whe...

The Cube did not have a Queen on board, because that is not how it works. "The Queen" is just a consciousness that brings harmony o the chaos of so many minds. In First Contact , the body being used by the Borg Queen was originally an Operations track officer aboard the Enterprise E. At on...

Ruafo wasn't in command of all Son'a forces, was he? I remember they were mentioned in DS9 ... If he wasn't their supreme commander... what do you think the supreme commander did when he found out Ruafo was dead, his mission was a failure, and one of their battleships was destroyed and another criti...

This is just speculation but the effect would be cumulative. The longer your there the worst it will be for you when you leave. Part of the reason may also be because the Son'a tried to prolong their lives making it worse for themselves. I do not believe that planet has any detrimental effects, sho...

It has been shown in Voyager that when the Borg really want to assimilate a planet, they will send a large fleet to do so.
That may be because Borg cubes are more common there.
Transwarp conduits can bring Borg cubes here very quickly. Heck, they can drop 'em right out on our doorstep...

Maybe because their lives had been prolonged by the planet for so long that was their body catching up on the aging thus flooding them with bad stuff. I thought the planet just promoted advanced cell regeneration. I don't think the Bak'u would stay there if there was the chance they would be doomed...

Deflector shields probably stop being effective after a certain point, when the object one wishes to deflect is sufficiently massive.

In universe Starfleet are the best. We cant compare them to us only to those around them. Compared to all the other powers Starfleet repeatedly comes out on top. As for the Borg maybe they have never needed to send more than one Cube at a time in the past. They have only attacked twice using a tact...
