So does the Akira class not have any rear-facing torpedo launchers?
The ship seemed to be designed with violent confrontation in mind, why wouldn't it have aft launchers.
I understand Klingon ships not necessarily having aft weapons, due to their opinions on honor... but a Federation starship should be more versatile than that.
I would at least expect the dorsal weapon pod to have aft tubes...

The Dark Side is a pathway to many abilities some would consider unnatural.

Maybe they didnt put aft ones in to stop the ship running away
All the weapons face foward so the ship always has to be heading into danger. Sounds like something the Klingons would do.

What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

It could be designed simply to concentrate all available firepower into one area, doing maximum damage to the target.

It does seem odd. The Akira seems to be designed in order to penetrate formations, judging by the port- and starboard-facing tubes. If it was meant to just sit back and lob torps, all its tubes would face forward. Given that design philosophy, it only makes sense that you give it at least one or two aft-facing tubes, for the eventuality that someone who was flanking you is no tailing you.
Wait... did I just expect a Starfleet design to make sense?

I think we covered that the rollbar has 4 forward, the 3 forward under the saucer, 2 port, 2 strb, and she is listed as having 15. So the other 4 are most likely aft. Though that would still be useful in battle as you could shoot at ships that you have passed.
