Rogue Trader General Disscussion
OK, I have a copy of RT here and an idea for a game. Any takers?
The system is considerably simplified from DH, with universal BS's and WS's and access to higher level kit off the bat (carapace armour, hellguns etc)

Re: Rogue Trader?
We can't keep up with the RPs we have now. Should we really be adding in new ones?

Is this the ship-based one?

Yeah, it includes ship combat and stuff as well as elements from DH. More freedom (imo) to do what you want without having the big I looking over your shoulder.

Interesting. Sounds like it could be great.

I agree with Deep, though if we're talking about shelving one (or more) in favor of this, I'm game. Is it just called Rogue Trader after the 40k first ed., or are the PC's really part of a rogue trader crew?
I like that part.Cpl Kendall wrote:The system is considerably simplified from DH,

Re: Rogue Trader?
Aye, we could. The ships aren't restricted to freighters, there are rules for the Sword class frigate (Imperial Navy) as well as a couple corsair light cruisers.
You also get a "specialty", so if you want to specialize in SP guns then you can, it gives you +10 to BS checks with that class. Though SP guns are not the hot poop they are in DH.
No, instead of having SP, Las, Primitive etc classes for weapons you have a "universal" skill which means if you have an autogun and kill a guy with a hellgun, you can pick up the hellgun and use it without penalty. Some things aren't covered, like Exotics. You mean, like TT where all humans have the same stats?

Money is also handled far better. Rather then carrying around cash or scrounging for the stuff you need, you make a wealth check (similar to BS) and if you pass then you get it.

I love the idea of it being simplified, It took me over 3 hours just to get my head round the attributes of starting characters.

He starts chemo tomorrow. He seemed in pretty good spirits when I was out there and chatting with him on the phone he's his usual self. With the surgery and then the chemo the chances of it reoccuring within 5 years is less then 25%, so I think he'll be OK.
It's tough on him though cause he's always been in really good shape and healthy.

I'll give the rulebook a look over.
And yeah, that#s probably the most damning thing about cancer is its lack of regard for health. If a guy is naturally unhealthy you sorta expect it, but if not....Yeah
