He's bang on with the uniforms as well, I mean the shirts don't look too bad and would be OK if they were coupled with a proper set of pants/boots but the unitards actually look worse then the TNG jammies. They should have kept the watch/communicator as well.

I recently got to watch the directors cut and I must admit I did quite like it. I don't know how many scenes where cut (I didn't miss any) yet for some reason, altough still slow paced which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I didn't find it quite as boring as I remembered it.

Maybe one needs a certain age to enjoy such a film yet while I still havent managed to sit through 2001 Space Odyssey (always fell asleep around the moon chapter)I do find this movie quite entertaining for what it is.

The refitted Enterprise never looked so grand and beautiful again and strangly this is the only Trek movie with the certain "alien" feel to it. Vger is a very effective alien, much more threatening than the whale probe for instance.

Now this I agree with wholeheartedly. This was really one of the few times Trek has managed to pull off the alien thing.

And he makes fun of it so well, sooner or later I plan on donating to him, since he does such a great job entertaining, and does it all for free.
