DeForest's last words
I just read something that just brought a lump to my throat.
Apparently when he was close to death, Will Shatner went to see DeForest Kelly. DeForest looked at him and said "Let's make just one more Star Trek movie... I sure miss making those movies."
It was one of the last things he ever said.

That's sad, but awesome.

Damn
They say that in the Army,
the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.

Thanks for sharing that with us. I think we all share a special admiration, almost a kinship, for the original cast.GrahamKennedy wrote:I just read something that just brought a lump to my throat.

Wow. It's heartening to know that so many of the people closely involved in Trek (especially those going way back) feel as close to the franchise as we do.
Edit: and [feel so close to] the fans, I might add

He certainly enjoyed his work.
No trees were killed in transmission of this message. However, some electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

Which is way his character was so great. Loving what you do, especially in Trek, shows through.stitch626 wrote:

QFT.... Deforest was a great actor, and brought infinite depth to his character...

Re: DeForest's last words
Kelly was a bit more "under the radar" as far as being outspoken about 'Trek than, say, Shatner or Nimoy, but a quote like that really shows why 'Trek has had such an impact.

Aye, the cast really were dedicated to it.

Re: DeForest's last words
Wow, very sad there. Although some great last words, too.
Re: DeForest's last words
I remember being very upset when I heard about his passing. Jim Henson was another whose death really made me sad. Both really loved what they did as much as I did, you know?

Re: DeForest's last words
Deforest did however refuse to appear in star trek: generations, just like Nimoy, declaring that star trek: the undiscovered country, was a suitable farewell for their characters
