AP is huge. The most aggravating thing when starting DH was that none of the weapons had any AP and many enemies had armor making them damn near immune to anything but crits.

Well the GM always needs to sheperd things. I don't think there's a game system out there that can't be flat out broken by the players if they work at it. Through the right rule books and careful choices you can make a character into a god at level 4 in D&D.

...I dunno. I REALLY like my nun with a gun.

You can work the system. I'm sure Kendall started at missionary at the bottom of the origin chart page and worked backwards. The only real gripe I've heard about RT is the lack of diversity in career paths, but "RP" is a big part of "RPG." I'm sure she could be created under the category of arch-militant, then just make sure you take things like "Common Lore (Imperial Creed)" and stuff.

Why a SoB would be accompanying a rogue trader, I have no idea, but that's what RP means I guess...

I'd be interested in creating a character. Either an Adeptus Mechanicus who is turning into a walking tank (Flesh is Weak), or the Rogue Trader, who holds the warrant, if nobody else wants it. I'll make up the AM character first, as he is more likely to be needed.

There is a path in RT for the AdMech - use the Explorator path, I'm pretty sure that Flesh is Weak is an available talent sooner or later.

Yeah I did. I had to do a fair bit of page flipping though as your origin path is somewhat limited.

Flesh is Weak is available at rank 3 for Explorator.

SoB could be an Arch-Militant who's been exiled perhaps or just hanging around in case some purging is required if a new world is discovered thats super-heretical.

Ok, so all characters start with 5K XP, 4,500 of which is considered spent in character creation. Leaving you with 500 to actually spend.

Now if you want to join the game with your current DH character, you'll get enough XP to bring you up to the 5000xp level (In DH) which makes you equivalence to a level 1 RT character.

:?

I guess I didn't read through as finely as I should have. You mean, after the creation process we have 500 to upgrade with, but we can consider ourselves with 5k spent for rank purposes?

Now, with the cheaper advancements in DH than RT will a 5k XP DH char be more advanced than a 5k RT char?

Well, I re-read that bit, and it looks like it was designed expressly to transition DH chars into RT, so never mind. I guess having to buy multiple weapons talents to make up for RT chars getting universal ones mitigates it a bit. Doesn't help me much, because there's no psyker RT chars, and the astropath isn't exactly the same.

Anyhoo, here's how I read it as far as the char types:
Must have = rogue trader, navigator
should have = astropath, void-master or two (though I guess we could NPC the crew if we had to)
anything else is up to preference.

So far it looks like we have Coalition as an explorator and Deep as an arch-militant (or equivalent.) Any other claims?

Hmm, hanging around for purgings could work out quite nicely. Also she might have the posting because she's not quite as dogmatically pure as some other SoBs.

She's not?! If she were any more dogmatic, she'd be the High Lord of the Ecclesiarchy.

Anyway, I forgot to include Kendall in the missionary position *ahem* and now Tyyr, whose char I'd guess would slot in as either missionary or arch-militant.

So, we're still short on everything we need. I don't mind taking either, but we're still short. Plus, we really should have an astropath, but I don't know if it's absolutely necessary.

If I remember my background correctly astropaths spend almost their entire time aboard the ships aloof and uninterested in anyone else. Seems like more of an NPC character than anything.

I'd be happy to take up the position of rogue trader but I don't know if anyone wants to serve under an amoral female trader one thin step from outright piracy.

As for Phebia, she didn't shoot the psyker in the face on principle when they first met. For a lot of SoBs that would be borderline heresy.

Well we don't need to have one of each character class. I mean the RT could be an NPC.

I dunno, psycho pirate woman could be fun. I've been going full renegade last play through in Mass Effect 2.
