FKI R&D Participation Program

The FKI will undertake to fund a part of all of research efforts conducted by other powers in exchange for certain concessions on the production and liscensing of the technology or ship in question. The exact terms of each deal are subject to negotiations depending on the nature of the research being proposed and the potential profitability of that research.

Funds are avaliable to cover up to 90% of the cost if the project is considered to have a high profit potential for the FKI and other Ferengi business interest. Please contact us to arrange terms.

FKI 5-year Trade Contracts

In a bid to introduce more flexibility to the international trade system and open up trade with other partners the FKI will undertake to open for bids a portion of its trade every 5 years. The process will work as follows.

Every 5 years the FKI will provide a total volume of export trade avaliable for bids. Each power may then make one offer for whatever volume they would like to obtain by telling us how much of our exports they are willing to take, how much of their exports they would like to send here and how much of a fee they necessitate or are willing to pay each year for the trade concessions.

Allocation will start with the most favorable bid until it is filled to capacity. It will then continue to the next bid and so on until the avaliable trade volume is exhausted.

As additional trade is made avaliable either through our growth or the cancellation of other trade agreements it will be put in special lots that will come due at the next 5-year general bidding period.

Those powers who will be losing a portion of their current trade arrangements with us will be duely notified of that event.

Through a combination of expansion of our resources and non-renewal of certain trade agreements the KFI will be able to make open for bid 3 million units of trade. We will take one bid from each power for the units. Each bid should include the volume of imports you are willing to take, the volume of exports you are wanting to send and any fees you expect either paid to you or that you are willing to pay to get the concession.

If your power did not receive a notification of cancellation then they are unaffected by this news, though you are welcome to bid on additional rights.

As many Federation citizens already know a small army has been raised for the first time within the Federation. Contrary to many rumors running around the Federation this army was raised a few months ago to aid in the potential flood of destroyed planets and refugees from the Cardassian-Tzenkethi conflict and from the Ferangi Civil War. With the Tzenkethi entering as a protectorate of the Federation the few thousand soldiers will remain a part of the active effort to stabilize the Tzenkethi space and aid in the rebuilding of their worlds.

The Bid on the Profit Class ships now stands at 6 million credits after bids of 5.5 million and 6 million.

The contesting parties agreed to submit final bids. Since all eligible and contesting parties agreed to this structure final bids were accepted for the sale of the Profit Class ship in question. The final bid was for 8 million credits. Thank you all for your participation.

The Klingon Empire has put the KFI on notice that they consider the sale of the above ship to be a violation of the NPT. Having reviewed the treaty and others with both our legal experts and requested the opinions of other powers we respect on the matter we still contend that we see no treaty violation with the possible exception of us not currently having signed the NPT. If we need to sign the treaty we certainly will do so, though that point will be moot in short order, but both sets of treaty experts contend that the sale of the device to cloak capable powers who are declared as such within the NPT would not violate the treaty even if we were a signatory.

They have demanded the device be sold to one buyer only and threatened war if we do not comply. We will take time to consider our response considering that we are now threatened with war over this whole affair. We will make a public response to these demands within 24 hours.

As an ally of the KFI and having signed an agreement to assist with the defense of the KFI the Federation will not permit the theft of the Profit Class ship.

We have stated before and will do so again, there is no legal obligation in the Non-Proliferation Treaty as signed by the United Federation of Planets, Klingon Empire, and Romulan Star Empire preventing the KFI from selling the ship to any power of their choosing as they are not a signer, or from a cloak-capable power. At our request they limited the market of potential buyers to those which are legal owners of cloaking technology and have followed the spirit of the NPT even though they are not bound by its word. As they are selling their only ship capable of cloaking we feel there is no need to oblige them to sign the NPT at this time, considering they are treaty bound not to develop cloaking technology.

With no legal purpose for attack we hope our honorable allies in the Klingon Empire will reconsider their words against the KFI and not commence an illegal invasion of a defenseless power.
