No, this is true. When my wife was marching, I went with the drum and bugle corps to a competition in Bethlehem. At our hotel, we actually drank the bar out of beer on a Saturday night, and couldn't get any until Monday.

Here in Texas we have some dry counties where you can't buy alcohol outside of a bar
ever. In the rest of the state (like Houston), you can't buy it after 2AM (even in bars) or before 7AM (except on Sundays, when you can't buy it before 12PM).
