Merchants have their place, but only when their greed can be tempered by the needs of the state. When the merchants are the state what motivation do they have to put aside their avarice?
You think the Great Enemy trapped? By what wall? What barrier have you erected? What insanity would cause you to think that a race which has been consuming all before it for centuries would not have the resources to grow, to split, to spread like some malignant cancer? They will not be here this year or the next but within our lifetimes the will be here. You will either prepare for them or be consumed by them.

Better for us all that a race of warriors take hold of the Ferengi. Such profits can now be put to use preparing for the coming war.

Steps have already been taken toward that end.

So tell us your story. The tales of warriors from across the galaxy must spoken and recorded. Their deeds of honor and feats of glory placed in song for the Gods! How else can history judge us.

Why are the Klingons to eager to accept this rather far fetched tale?
We speak of an invasion we have no reason to believe will take place, aside from the word of a people whom we have no reason to trust.

If they speak of the Hurq as we suspect then they bring us warning. Why else would such a powerful force be on the run?
Besides, it would be good to face the Hurq in battle again. A worthy enemy which would bring us great battles worthy of song!

Yes. If they speak of the Hur'q. If they are telling the truth. If they can be trusted.
All they have proven thus far is that they are able to conquer a people weaker than they are. So far, we have seen no glorious battle, or noble cause. We have seen thieves violently take what belonged to another in the dead of night.

We are forced to concur with the Union. You show them great respect, and certainly they are due a limited degree of respect for their sheer power if not their diplomatic abilities. But do you think they shall cast the Klingons the same? By all intents and purposes, why are you more than simply another collection of "blunts", simply "blunts" with the right idea? We have a hard time trusting a power capable of genocide without any reason or provocation. We have made mistakes and errors, we have committed atrocities against others and our own, but they have been for a reason, even if that reason is unjust.

To the Union.
Sounds to us they are no different then the Cardassian Union is their actions. The Bajorans, Tzenkethi, Talarians... and at least these new comers were victorious. We grant them trust in that they are honest about why they have done so.
To the Turei.
What they think of us of little importance. They are on the far side of the Federation and not truly our concern. This does not take away that they have gone to battle with an ancient enemy of the Old Empire. Such things need to be recorded until the time of Final Victory comes.

The Cardassian Union has never committed genocide, nor even during the height of the Occupation of Bajor did we subject the populace to mechanical modifications. And keep in mind that the Klingon track record of victory is just as tenuous. Your people failed to achieve victory in your misguided invasion of Cardassia, and faced the very real prospect of defeat at the hands of the Dominion, until our people joined your forces.
Do not cast dispersions in our direction. We have patiently endured your derision, but we have other concerns now and little patience. Go pester the Pakleds or something.

Dispersions? Your own leader turned out to be a servant of the Dominion... Dukat! As to your people joining us. Your race started a bloody war that consumed this part of the galaxy and only switched sides when you found your Dominion allies were even more traitorous then you.
If you didn't want to hear from us, maybe you shouldn't have involved yourselves in our lines to the new comers. Hearing cries from a race of murders and rapists is hardly useful in the current times.

And hearing the blind and loving trust and devotion in a race that eats bait is flat out disturbing.

If that is all it takes to disturb you then you had best stay out of the kitchen!

:::muttering under his breath:::
This Klingon is mad.
To the so called Migrant Fleet.
What evidence can you provide that you pose no threat to our soverign powers, and that this "threat" of yours is more than your imagination?
