Oh boy. Sliders. If any sci-fi didn't need to have a big bad, it was this show. Could have been like Quantum Leap.Coalition wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 10:38 pmIn similar vein, the Sliders tv series (~20 minutes):
The author of that channel has others as well that I liked:
Space: Above & Beyond - 16 minutes
Xena: Warrior Princess - 21 minutes
Seaquest - 22 minutes

That's really interesting stuff. I never use subtitles, unless it's a non-English film, but my ex uses subtitles all the time.

You have no problem with American accents? I really need help with the variety of British accents. When I was watching "The Thick of It," you better believe I had subtitles on. Especially when Malcolm and Jamie are conversing.Tinadrin Chelnor wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 10:32 pmThat's really interesting stuff. I've lived all over the UK over the years, so I guess I have just had to get used to different accents, etc. When I was living in Scotland the first time round, I was a childminder for a Geordie family and a Welsh family, so had to get used to both those accents plus the Scottish, and of course I've watched American shows for most of my life.
Every once in a while someone will say something that throws me off, but not often enough to warrant me using subtitled, its pretty rare.

Well, thank you for the explanation! That makes it even funnier. What's the cherry on the sundae, Sami Zayn doesn't tell them what he's gonna say during the segment. He's made them crack many a times... until the Royal Rumble 2023.

How about the Yorkshire accent? "Tin tin tin" = "It isn't in the tin?" No way.Tinadrin Chelnor wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 6:51 amI've lived all over the UK over the years, so I guess I have just had to get used to different accents, etc. When I was living in Scotland the first time round, I was a childminder for a Geordie family and a Welsh family, so had to get used to both those accents plus the Scottish, and of course I've watched American shows for most of my life.

Kristen Schaal upon hearing the Yorkshire accent for the first time: "Were they mumbling, because that sounded terrible." Sequence of event begins at 1:45.

There is not a problem in this world that can't be solved without the proper application of a sufficient number of thermonuclear ordnance.
