It's just a very catchy, well-written tune; it's pop enough to be very hooky and appealing, yet without being saccharine and cloying. And, I've got to give props to anyone a) from New Jersey and b) named Sinatra.

a) I did not know she was from New Jersey, you learn something new everyday I guess.
b) Good point.

About the well written I guess its prob another example of some poor writer putting it together and its only ever known as Nancy Sinatra's song.
