I mean the bottom-feeders. Phantom Regiment, Star of Indiana, Crossmen... all of 'em used to be second-rate corps compared to Cadets, Cavaliers, Santa Clara, and Blue Devils. Of course, I'm going back 20 years or so...

I didn't see DCI's this year, but I understand that Cadets were pretty bad (relative to their usual pace-setting excellence.)

Not quite - we were pretty confident after he'd made half a dozen posts that it was him, the rest of the time was just making sure (in which your input was indeed most helpful). I won't go into detail, to avoid providing useful information on our counter-sockpuppet strategy, but suffice to say that as soon as we were confident we had a genuine Chakat he got the boot. No ranting involved.

I stand corrected. And it merely stands to the efficiency of the mod team.

That is what I heard. I only got to see 1 DCI show, but the Cadets didn't seem that impressive. Two people from my college marching band marched the Cadets this year, but I have heard from others that, compared to normal, the Cadets have been a bit lackluster recently. The only other Corp I really cared about this summer was Jersey Surf but that was because my girlfriend marched with them this season (that's a good reason right?). I was a bit underwhelmed by their show. It was a nice patriotic medley-type thing, but I had hoped for more.

Jersey Surf, nonetheless, has made great strides in the last 5 - 10 years. They used to be on par with the Buccaneers, and now they're actually an enjoyable corps to watch on the field.

Indeed. I like their performance, it was the music that was just kind of meh for me. They performed what they had really well though -- of course I'm biased (toward the colorguard at least) and our Marching Band this year has quite a few Surf alumni in it. If I were any good at any of the instruments I play in band (and had money) I'd go out for them.

Why? Forum membership -> drum and bugle corps. Seems logical to me.

An another tack... have you seen the DITL forum yet? ;)

Thanks, anti-Spock! :P

And it's a lovely forum! I might join, but I don't think I'll fit in too well. ;)
