OK, here's an evil twist on the question....
Ever thought of LEAVING the forum for good? Ever actually done that but changed your mind days/weeks/months later?

Nope

I took a hiatus after being involved in a particularly mean-spirited tiff with another member (which I completely regret, BTW.)thelordharry wrote:OK, here's an evil twist on the question....

Meh. That was six of one and half a dozen of the other. Besides, compared to some of mine a Deep's bust-ups, it was a pretty minor spat.Mikey wrote:I took a hiatus after being involved in a particularly mean-spirited tiff with another member (which I completely regret, BTW.)

No doubt, though I still regret it.

I never thought of leaving... Though I did try to take a break of this for school sake... failed at it too.

The boys' mom asked me to spy on them.
Still here because I haven't found anything worth reporting back to her yet.

I have taken a break once by choice. Been temp-banned four times and had a few small breaks for work.

Re: Why'd you join?
I joined this forum intially when I first learned DITL had one.
But I didn't hanged around.
I joined back a few months ago (or a few weeks?) after I got banned from my previous favourite forum, giantitp.com, after a bad week.
hum... I considered leaving only 48 hours after posting, because of the very first thread I participated in regarding the Romulans, 'cause I didn't understood how "normal" it was to be rude...ish on this forum, and I took it personnaly. I kinda acted like an ass in return, and I refused to come back for some time, until I came to my sense and apologised.
Ever since, I just refuse to read a thread for a few days when I feel my blood boiling because of the current argument, to avoid acting again like a rude ass. I'd rather not post than post insults.
edit: save some easy potshots made in good humour, obviously.

Checking up the newcomers, aren't ya?Mark wrote:What'd ya get banned for over there?
Accrual of Serious Offense. Some of them were justified (I sometime answered quite sardonically and kinda provoked arguments). Some of them weren't, IMHO. But it's the Mod's call:
- I created a thread to propose re-writing the Star Wars prequel (kinda long post that I was proud of), and a guy immediately answered in 2 lines not to bother, 'cause they weren't gonna be changed. I politely told him not to post in the thread, and that count as an offense.
- I answered in a thread generated by a spambot, 'cause I thought it was funny (and I seriously was pondering about why the span tried to sell us what it tried to sell us. It was, like, the most illogical product/service I could think of.). Counts as an offense.
- Some of others answers were considered to be flaming. Might be true, or not. It's up to the Mod's call. They try to keep things extremely non-confrontational over there, which is why I was taken aback by the attitude of
I don't know if it counted against me, but if you post multiple time in a flame war, each post counted as an individual offense.
Eventually, a Mod committee decides if one is warrant to be banned or not. I am just disapointed it was a perm-ban, and not just a temp. I still regret messing things up.
But at least, I met this
