Your favorite race
Your favorite race
You know, B5 is the first sci fi show where I have found that humans aren't my automatically favorite race. You've got some awesome examples here. What's you favorite race?
Let's vote and discuss.
Usual rules apply. One nomination per person, but you can second as many as you like.
My nomination is the Centauri Republic. They go from being annoying, to bullies, to conqurers, to sympethetic, to noble, to..........you get the idea.
They seem to have this cross between decadance and nobility, and are far and away the most arrogant beings in the galaxy IMO. But the most entertaining as well. I think they could have likely made a good spin off show focusing on the Centauri themselves.

Re: Your favorite race
For me theres one of three choices and I cant decide which.
First is the Vorlons. Besides their mumbo jumbo bullcrap that Kosh was fond of producing, they were actually fucking bad ass. As much as they were meant to be the good guys of the war (psh) they werent good at all. I mean, for starters glassing a planet is pretty awesome if evil. And second, the pure....might they displayed in kicking back against the shadows. Kosh's interplay with Sheridan was great, especially the bit where Sheridan tempts Kosh into attacking him. Plus the get the hell out of our galaxy speech is classic!
Second, Centauri. They are the ultimate display of bureaucratic mess, of pomp and circumstance. Its like pre-revolutionary France if it had been allowed to continue past the revolution. The Republic was choking under its own p*ss and importance but still showed themselves capable of kicking ass if necessary. They were also strangely noble in all their pomp.
Third, Narn. They act how the Klingon's SHOULD have acted. Honour oaths, strong combat leans, aggressive tendencies...but its tempered by good intelligence (especially with examples like G'Kar, Na'Toth and G'Sten).
I Think i would have to nominate the Vorlons.
But I second the Centauri!

Re: Your favorite race
The Shadows. They were a very good villain race, especially for being as sneaky as they were. Shadows was a very appropriate title for them, trying to see their hand in events was a nearly hopeless task, and they were excellent manipulators. Plus they just had an awesome attitude about them that many would be badasses wish they could achieve. Their ships were as freaky as they were lethal, and all the more frightening for using enslaved members of other races as the pilots. Z'ha'dum was an awesome name for the home world of a dark race like them, and they themselves were the kind of creature you'd run screaming from just based on looks alone.

Especially if your an arachnaphobe. Admittedly it isn't 8 legged but it looks it.

I had a fit when I saw the shadow for the first time.
It looks remarkably like a collector general in ME:2.

I wholly back up the Narn claim. They were simply great, and strong.

Re: Your favorite race
I enjoyed seeing a show where humanity wasn't always supposed to be the good guys in everything they do. However, I'll second the Shadows.

Re: Your favorite race
I think we should just make a poll with all of the races. I don't think we'll get this cut down by much in the end.

Re: Your favorite race
I'll second the Vorlons. I loved Kosh; great character.
