Funerals

Post by Nickswitz »

Well, I just had the randomest thought, What would you want as your funeral? If you died what would you want your funeral to be, based on the available technology of the time.

I honestly will probably go with cremation because it's cheap and I don't want to waste space for those other poor guys who want to be buried somewhere, I'm just being considerate. :D

Cremated and shot into space. Only costs a few grand at most, and no boring f*cking ceremony.

Cremated and fed to the worms.

at least I can contribute to mother nature somehow, after decades of burning the atmosphere with car fumes, electricity bills and all other manner of things I shall perform.

For the disposition of my remains: burial in a wooden casket with no metal hardware, buried in a grave with no vault; true to my religious dictates, and 100% biodegradable. Plus, I'm thinking of being buried fairly shallow and face down. Cookie to the first person who can guess why.

For the funeral itself... I want something in the spirit of an old-school N'Awlins funeral. Maybe not a parade and jazz band, but I'd rather it be a celebration of the relationships I've had and a time of closure for my loved ones. I'd definitely want folks drinking shooters of Patron off my casket.

I'd go with a close casket wake, those open casket affairs always creep me out and I wouldn't subject my friends and family to that. Other than that detail, I don't overly care what they do with the body, it'll just be a hollow shell at that point.

Ditto. I don't want to be preserved, embalmed, pickled, or anything. I DON'T want my body remaining fresh in an airtight/watertight atmosphere until our sun goes nova. Emotionally I'm not even keen on the idea of being an organ donar, but intellectually I've accepted that if I'm dying ANYWAY, may as well save a life in the process. Maybe tip the ol' cosmic scales a bit in my favor.

I want my body cut up and used for science.

Why do I have the feeling I'm the only one who wants this...

I'm leaving a credit card in my name and donating my body for organs. Then the science guys can take the rest.

I want my family to have a party and just remember the good times... then screw over the Credit Card company when I'm not around to pay the bill.

They can go after your estate, you know... and that includes your survivors.

My estate will be gone by then, if it hasn't already been given away... and going after the survivors is a tough sell in any court. Good luck to them...
