This is a general way people have been doing it. Nothing rules wise stops you from changing partners ever turn. Even if you negotiated a 20 year agreement I (as the GM) won't stop you from walking away from it.Lt. since no-one knows what the hell I look like, I've gone through the DITL images and found an approximate race among the non named ones. It did come from VOY, but its close enough. Its named DITL species #162:
