Well, this immediate post-bubble period could be the best time to buy a house - low price, low interest, and it's value will increase in time

Exactly what I said when I heard this; it's a great time to buy a house. I've already found five in the zip code of my choice that are over 1,900 square feet.Captain Picard's Hair wrote:Well, this immediate post-bubble period could be the best time to buy a house - low price, low interest, and it's value will increase in time
And, Mark, I don't get to keep the leftover cash.
Thanks, everyone! I think with a stable home base, I'll be well on my way to being successful by this time next year.

congradulations Tsuki.
but since you don't get to keep the left overs, buy a big house, rent out several of the rooms, get the money to fly us out that way

Actually, that's not a bad idea. I don't know how you feel about sharing your home, but out here, single bedrooms go for $400 a month. I know one family doesn't have to pay mortgage, because they rent out four rooms of their 8 bedroom house. They live on the top floor, so they never have to see they're tennants either, and the $2000 a month they collect pays the mortage every month.

Not an awful idea. I've got a pretty short list of people I'd trust in my home, though, and even some of my best friends aren't on it.
Never fear, though. Once I have my Grandfather's tools and a garage, I'm going to get to work. I may have a few patents before long.

Will you be able to start working on your knees from that house sale?

If you mean surgery, I'm going to wait until they can do better than the current 30% success rate.shran wrote:Will you be able to start working on your knees from that house sale?
In the meantime, I'll be able to get a really sweet wheelchair when it comes to that.
Plus, the money from the sale is going back into my Grandma's accounts until she passes away (which I'd prefer to be a decade or two from now), at which point it'll be split in thirds for my mom and her brothers.

I really hope that works out well for you, Tsu. What's it like to live in Texas? I'm just realizing that having a home of my own is one of my biggest dreams. Also, I'm applying to University of North Texas, and my girl and I want to know how friendly people will be. Basically, we're liberal and afraid of the state that elected George W. Bush their governator. Of course, I'm speaking from Kalee-fornia, the state that elected Action Schwarzenegger THEIR governor.
I got season 3 of TNG for xmas, and a few other amazing gifts, including a 750gb firewire hard drive for my Mac (phooey on the internal 80gb hard drive - it's been full since day 1!) and a fantastic handheld digital audio recorder (which I used to record the love song I linked to in the YouTube thread, and which you should all check out. Because I'm comfortable with shameless plugs.). I'm going to start building a sample library of all the sounds I think are cool, and now I have the equipment to do it with.

Remember that Texas ended up nearly evenly split in the '08 presidential election.Grundig wrote:I really hope that works out well for you, Tsu. What's it like to live in Texas? Plus, you'll mostly be interacting with collegiates, so I'm sure it'll be just fine...
On the other hand, that's in Denton, about 330 miles from me; it's almost a whole different state. I don't get up there, well, ever, so they may be complete jerks for all I know.
