Server outage
On the 27 December we received a message from our server that there was a problem. On inspection it turned out that there were errors with the hard disk. When we fixed that we got a further issue that the CPU fan had failed. This meant a complete replacement for the server.
So we now have a shiny new server with double the number of CPU cores, 4 times the amount of RAM and fully mirrored drives. All in all a decent upgrade. I then had to re-instate the services which took a little time. The website is back up and running as are most of our ancillary services.
