What's new - Dec 2011

We've updated the species and personnel timeline pages to include images, just as we have in the main timeline section.

We've made some slight changes to the CSS for the menus, they're even more lightweight than before. If they don't look right please refresh the page and if that doesn't work clear your browser cache.

The next phase of the new look is now in place. This means that all the round ended buttons (both on the top strip and the individual pages) are now shown in the new style. There are also far less graphics involved so the site should require less bandwidth and be slightly faster, especially on slower links.

We've reset the Browser, Operating system and Screen size stats on the site. New browsers now exist and screens are getting larger. In a month or so we should have a better feel for how things are now. We've also enabled detection for Firefox, Safari and Chrome, the latter two are new but Firefox used to be reported as Netscape.

As you can see, we've enhanced the 3-D look of the LCARS interface. I think it looks pretty nice, hope you like it too. If it doesn't show up for you, just force a reload of the page.

Firefox 9, which will be released today, fixes an issue that was preventing the xmas music from playing when using Firefox on the Mac. Don't forget if you want to stop the music all you have to do is click one of the top buttons that brings up a menu at the left of the screen, for example 'Fed Ships'.

Sixteen episodes of TOS season 1 have been greatly expanded. In each case the plot summary has been increased from one or two lines to half a page or more, along with a much more detailed section giving my thoughts about the episode. In many cases there are also new quotations, episode nitpicks, and factoids.

Also, I want to take a moment here to mention our "add your own review" part of these pages. All of our reviews have a link to let users add a review and rating of their own to the episode. I want to give thanks to the user Indefatigable, who has taken the time to write no less than 327 reviews under this system. That's pretty amazing, so much kudos to him!

As you can see it's December and our xmas decorations have gone up. If you are one of those people who complain about the music then all you have to do is click on one of the menu buttons at the top (such as Fed ships) and the music will stop. Bah, humbug ;)
