A Jikaru is modified to turn it into a weapon by the Lutani. The USS Enterprise was to transport it to the Lutani system, however, they discovered that it was a sentient species and had been coerced into being modified. They allowed it to kill its self. The Federation quarantined its home planet Tychus B and turned it into a sanctuary for the Jikaru. [1]
