An advanced and highly industrialised species in the Delta Quadrant, the Quarren planet was undergoing a crippling labour shortage in the 2370s. To overcome this, they took to abducting the crews of passing starships, using false memory implants to convince the crews that they had willingly chosen to work on the planet. As a result, the Quarren home planet is highly cosmopolitan, with workers from many different species present. The bulk of Voyager's crew were so captured in 2377 [1], but the few remaining crew were able to rescue them. [2]
