Universe : Prime Timeline
Affiliation : Federation
Class Name : Frankenstein's Ship

Notes

Frankenstein's Ship was a amalgam made from parts scavenged from several Federation ship classes. The primary hull had a registration number of NCC-1279 and was taken from a Crossfield Class vessel, however, other parts of the ship did not match that class. [1]

It was built and manned by disgruntled Klingon ex-soldiers in order to attack other Klingon vessels in the hope of restarting the Federation / Klingon war. It is a testament to Federation engineering and modular ship design philosophy that such a ship could be assembled by by such a group in a mining facility, with no access to a proper engineering facilities or space docks and in a relatively short period. [1]

Fortunately, for both the Klingons and Federation the scheme was spotted by La'An Noonien-Singh and together with some of her shipmates they managed to destroy the ship before it was able to mount a successful attack. Spock was able to convince the Klingon Captain of the true nature of the incident during a get together over a barrel of blood wine. [1]
