Altovar attempted to buy some bio-mimetic gel from Dr. Bashir in 2371; when informed that sale of the gel was illegal in the Federation, Altovar attempted to steal some instead. He was caught by Bashir and initiated a telepathic attack on the Doctor, which caused a prolonged bout of hallucinations. Altovar was rapidly caught by Odo. [1]
