Duras was a major political power in the Klingon Empire. His father was the traitor responsible for the Khittomer massacre but this fact was covered up lest the upheval that would result push the Empire into civil war and Worf's father Mogh was blamed instead. [2] Duras attempted to become leader of the High Council in 2367, but his father's actions were discovered by K'Ehleyr. He murdered her, and was subsequently challenged to personal combat by Worf and killed. [3]
