A Norvalian, Jaffen worked at a Quarren powerplant alongside Captain Janeway after she was kidnapped by the Quarren in 2377. An easygoing man who was difficult to anger, he once noted that somebody tried to goad him by insulting his father, not realising that his people don't have fathers. He and Janeway were attracted to one another, and dated for several months after she began to work with him. Evenutally the pair moved in together. [2] Eventually Janeway's original memories were recovered and she returned to Voyager. She condiered offering Jaffen a position on Voyager, but decided that it would not be appropriate. [3]
