Lot of great moments in this one. It was difficult trying to include them all. Which was your favorite?

I have to go with the part where the BOP decloaks and scares off the whalers.

Kirk and crew coming home to the 1701-A would be second.

I'd agree with the image of the Bounty decloaking over the whaler.

For second, I'd go for the whole Chekov story - "nuclear wessels", legging it after his phaser didn't work, and rescuing him from the hospital.

I voted for saving the whales as well. A huge build up, and then the harpoon just bouncing off thin air! Cracks me up every time! And you get a good look at how big the ship is too.

And given the current actions of certain japanese vessels, saving whales is even more important.

There are a lot of scenes. I voted for Chekov's interigation/rescue. You know, if they showed up a decade or two later, they could've hidden their communicators as cell phones and no one would've given them a second look. :P

I'm going to go with the saving the whales scene, like most people here.

I was about to vote for that - the BoP de-cloaking above the whaler is great - but I had to go with the walk through SF, etc. So many great one-liners have come out of thos scenes, and it became a great character exploration, unreliant on any SFX, spaceships, or trek-no-babble.

I think I've watched that movie about a million times, it was the only Trek movie we owned when I was a kid. I always liked the nuclear wessel bit, though really my favorite moment is silly, and not in there. It's when the jogger beans herself against the cloaked ship.

I'm gonna put off voting till I've had a chance to rewatch this.

However, one of my fave scenes not listed in the poll has to be the two garbage men at the beginning.

I gained more respect for this particular movie after Hitchhiker's Guide.
You know, how the whale represented human existence and such?
So long, and thanks for all the fish.

A shame there's no 'the entire movie' or 'all of the above'. ;)

I went with the crew seeing the Enterprise-A, but the initial contact with Earth was downright hilarious.

That's more or less what Graham listed as "Great moments" for TOS - Balance of Terror: something to the effect of 'pretty much the whole episode.' Can't argue with Graham there, I love that episode.

I was talking on an earlier thread somewhere around here about all the great lines in this movie. Kirk's reaction to seeing Spock in the whale tank was also priceless. In fact, just watching Spock in general was a hoot in this one.
