In 1983, FASA Corp, created the first Star Trek role playing game. There were volumes and volumes of content about ships, characters, races, rules, factions, and adventure campaigns!
It also had a very detailed Starship combat system - the Starship Combat Tactical Simulator Game, but the license was revoked in 1989! We must treasure this content, as it inspired a lot of canon in today's Star Trek universe!
