Re: Starship Lore : Nova Class - An Actual Science Vessel
For years I was developing fiction based on a Nova Class. Only blueprints I ever paid for were for the Nova Class. I fucking loved these beyond belief.
Don't you hear my call, though you're many years away, don't you hear me calling you?

They look fucking great. I immediately checked out DITL for more information when I was watching the Voyager reruns.Bryan Moore wrote:For years I was developing fiction based on a Nova Class. Only blueprints I ever paid for were for the Nova Class. I fucking loved these beyond belief.

If you can still find deck plans online (I think Ex Astris had some but better ones came from elsewhere), you can actually see a ship with reasonable internals for the crew size, too. Obviously these are fan-developed, but its great to see.Nutso wrote:They look fucking great. Re: Starship Lore : Nova Class - An Actual Science Vessel
Personally I always loved the design. Compact, small and had a logical design.
My personal head cannon, I'd like to think there are different versions of the class. Like they can be science vessels, scouts, police ships etc. All slightly different from each other. Maybe the Rhode Island is the heavier armed, more powerful version meant as a destroyer or patrol ship. Maybe could be acting in a squadron along a border.

It’s too bad the ship design didn’t have a more radical approach like the Oberth class it replaced. But it is in-line with the VOY-era design lineage.

I understand what you say about the ship's rather derivative design but, I still find it aesthetically pleasing. And as you said, it is following a design lineage. I don't like the Intrepid Class look, but I like this. I don't know why.Black Jesus wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 9:21 pm It’s too bad the ship design didn’t have a more radical approach like the Oberth class it replaced. Did I hear that right? He said the Nova class had Galaxy class power pre-refit?

Yeah. This is "Beta canon" which is from beta canon sources and his own imagination. As he says, take the vid with a grain of salt. I just like the Nova Class for its looks. I wish it had an Onlyfans.

I don't buy it honestly. Doesn't make sense to me that something that is as powerful as the E-D would struggle that much even if it was a much smaller ship.
That also would make the Intrepid or specifically Voyager more powerful too.
