Preacher

Most folks around here have heard about what a huge slobbering fan of Garth Ennis I am. Even though I always thought his stories would translate well to a screen of one size or another, all we've had so far is the Keanu Reeves-fuelled abortion Constantine and the slightly-better but short-lived Hellblazer FOX series. Well, AMC stepped up to make the immensely twisted and disturbing - but utterly phenomenal - Ennis/Dillon comic Preacher into a series.
Surprisingly, AMC did something almost unheard-of in such a situation - they enlisted Ennis and Dillon in a production capacity. The result - with the help of some great casting - is a show that, even though I've seen all of one pilot episode, which comprised some very basic background and little actual plot motion, I am excited to continue watching (and I'm pretty damned jaded.) Of course I doubt AMC will air anything as darkly mind-twisting as Ennis' comic, but I think that the atmosphere will persist.
Anybody else check it out (or familiar with the comic?)
