Jack Vance

OK, so I've decided to begin a foray into Jack Vance, notably his Dying Earth books. I know, I should be ashamed of myself for not having read them all before now. Getting past that, since his books (even the so-called novellas) were collections of loosely-connected stories, should I make an effort to go in chronological order - or, is there a particular starting point which anyone recommends?
