In an adventure that spans centuries, Captain Kirk fights alongside a U.S.S. Enterprise from the past to stop the devastating "Doomsday Wars" that should never have happened. Re: Star Trek: New Voyages
I've seen a few episodes of this. It's... not too bad.
Re: Star Trek: New Voyages
Considering that these are not professional actors, or that the wardrobe doesn't always quite fit? Not bad at all. Blood and Fire does have Denise Crosby in it though.

Yeah. This is a fan production, but they still do a pretty damned good job with it.
Re: Star Trek: New Voyages
Oh hell, I had just finished writing a looooong review of the first episode, but apparently I had been logged out and when I pressed 'post', everything I had written was gone (and I was asked to log in). Fuck that.
Anyhow, in short, the first episode's ambitions are great, but for me it mostly fails. Shots are badly composed (unfocused or uninspired) and the plot was sort of 'what-the-hell-did-I-just-see?', especially towards the end. The special effects were generally great in concept, but with no budget to do them properly, there is no 'eye candy'.
I had explained it much better the first time I wrote it, but I just don't have the patience to compose the post again. (Anyhow, if anyone is interested to pick up the discussion, there is room for analysis...)
