Sky Fall (Bond)
Saw this last weekend and it's pretty good. My wife loved it and Graham and I both thought it was very good. It's not quite as good as Casino Royale but much better than Quantum of Solace.

Re: Sky Fall (Bond)
I intend to see it once it's released here (it's coming out this Friday, the ninth in these parts)

I plan on seeing it too. Probably in two to three weeks though I never go on opening weekend.

Re: Sky Fall (Bond)
To give you a feel for how well it is doing here we attempted to go to the opening weekend, but it was sold out. This was in a cinema with it showing on at least three screens at the same time. We went last Saturday (one week later) and the only seats we could get where one row from the front. It is still running on three if not four screens in the cinema that we use. Just for reference that cinema has a total of nine screens, meaning at least a quarter of the capacity has been used for this film for two weeks. Their largest screen hold 450 people.

Re: Sky Fall (Bond)
One of the best Bond films ever, IMO. Whether that puts it above or below Casino Royale is a toss-up, and there were a few cases of plot-induced stupidity that I found very irritating, but overall was very good. The sheer number of subtle (and not so subtle) tips to previous films are probably a matter of taste, but I liked them.

Yep. Better even than You Only Live Twice or Licence to Kill.

Now I'm just confused. You mentioned a Connery and a Dalton film so I don't know what to think.

Not one of the better Connery ones, at that.Tyyr wrote:Now I'm just confused. You mentioned a Connery and a Dalton film so I don't know what to think.

It was, however, the first Bond film I saw.

I actually liked YOLT, not my favorite but it's ok. Fuck Dalton though.

Re: Sky Fall (Bond)
Dalton was still better than Lazenby, IMO...
I hate Lazenby with a passion, not as an actor per say, but as a Bond...
The more I watch Daniel Craig as Bond, the more I start feeling he might just be the best Bond yet...
I love his portrayal, his vulnerability, his absence of veneer, his rough edges, his cold heart...
Just like Connery, this Bond can look like a damn bastard when he wants to...
You feel he doesn't feel much when killing someone, just like Connery, as if this was just another part of the job, no more distasteful than, say, meeting a new dignitary with M...
But where Connery played the part of a man with a few missions as a double-O agent under his belt, we see Craig, as of Casino Royale, as a man eager to prove himself worthy of playing in the big leagues, lacking experience and some decorum...
Anyways, I liked Casino Royale a lot, also liked Quantum of Solace if a bit less, and I eagerly await the chance to watch Skyfall on IMAX...

Dalton was (and still is, just) the best Bond of the lotTyyr wrote:Fuck Dalton though.
I've never understood the visceral dislike of Lazenby. It's a great pity, as I reckon that if it weren't for the fact that OHMSS was effectively a one-off it would be considered one of the greatest of the lot.Praeothmin wrote:I hate Lazenby with a passion, not as an actor per say, but as a Bond...

Re: Sky Fall (Bond)
Dalton is the Bond from the books and does an amazing job of portraying that character.
Call me a Phillistien but prefer the Connery or Brosnan Bond.
