Finished this model awhile ago. It has onboard batteries for lighting the nacelles and saucer domes.

THe above pics were taken in my garage using a homemade space backdrop. The planet is a beachball.

That's pretty cool stuff. You've done a great job with the photography too, these really look very close to the kinds of FX shots we see in episodes.

Very nicely done. I, too, like the way you've set the photography. If I had to comment, I'd say the dorsal saucer surface almost looks too clean.

I'd say the same about all the first three photos - probably an inherent issue with trying to combine a new model with an old planet. The last one, however, seems to be slightly out of focus, and in doing so has got it absolutely perfect - you'd have to put it next to a screencap to tell the difference, and even then you might not be able to.

Thanks for all the comments!

As far as the weathering on the upper saucer, I deliberately went with a subtle approach.
You don't want to overdo the staining on a model only 11" long.
You can see the stains better in this pic taken prior to decaling:

I made some more images where I used the editing tools on Photobucket to make the ship appear grainier.
More like the original images seen on TV.
I don''t claim to be an expert at this so please bear that in mind with any critiques you may care to offer...

Here's a series of stills from an episode never seen in the original series. I call it "Kirk's bad day" or "What to do when your weapons are out of commission":

The Klingon D-7 shown above is from the old AMT Space Ship Set.

I'm honored that the membership here thinks enough of my work to offer comments and advise.
I've been very impressed by the depth of understanding and thought exhibited by all of you in the posts I've read on this forum.

Many of those look great.

One of the weaknesses with 1/1000 scale even something as large as the E-nil is that it is hard not to look like model.

Maybe it was the set after all. The dorsal surface detail certainly shows better in the pic on the stand.

These are impressive, and the second set really looks like stills from the show... :)

Aye. The port and starboard lights still stand out a bit, but you have to be looking for them to really notice.

Wow very nice attention to detail. I'm looking at smaller pics on a iPhone so the pic quality and contrast looks great at this scale.

Took this pic outdoors in front of my garage on an overcast morning. She looks almost half studio scale here:
