New work based on Miguel Alcubierre's idea of a "real life warp drive" following Einstein's General Relativity suggests that the act of dropping out of warp (i.e., collapsing the warp bubble) would unleash an immense ray of high-energy radiation due to particles that had been pulled into and trapped within the warp bubble being released all at once.

Warp Drive: Ultimate Doomsday Weapon
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wonderous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross... but it's not for the timid." Q, Q Who

I am just quoting a reply here:
This is why any warp capable space ship should be equipped with a main deflector dish. In order to repel any space particles away from the warp bubble.
I's just basic warp engine design, really ...

Wow!
But seriously, who funds these rather abstract and vague endeavors ?
I kind of don't like the idea of tax dollars going to something as virtually useless as this.
Merged because it's the same thing. - MIkey
