Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving - at least in spirit, if you don't celebrate the day - to all!
I'm still recovering from tryptophan OD - my mother-in-law made a 40-lb. turkey. That's not a typo.

Good gravy, Mikey.

How many folks showed up? We had a 15-lb. bird for seven people, and we still had leftovers... Man, it came out juicy, though. I think smaller size + shorter cooking time = less chance of dried-out bird.

We had 14 people. And while it took about 10 hours to cook (fresh - you don't get frozen birds that size,) it was - as always - juicy and delicious.

Im gutted. Being an American in the UK, most people hardly had a clue. So I ate turkey sandwich and wished everyone happy thanksgiving and had a can of cider. Woo.

Still, I envy your chance to travel abroad at all. After my grandmother passes away, I'll have little stomach for family affairs like Thanksgiving.

I've found that holidays can be made into a time of positive reminiscences after a healing period.
BTW, speaking of glutted: we passed the time between dinner and dessert with a traditional family beer pong tournament and shots of Brugal.

That does sound like fun. All we did was talk and try some good wine.
