Gifts

Post by Nickswitz »

I am always in a really giving mood, so I generally try to get my mom and dad gifts. Such as I gave my mom my old iPod last year which she really wanted, and am buying her a brand new one this year that will be coming in tomorrow.

So basically, what is the most considerate gift you've given someone you love, not the one they may have needed the most necessarily, but the one that they were most grateful for.

For myself, it would probably be either the iPod that I just ordered my mom, or the iPod that I paid for for Bob. I know he uses his iPod for everything and that he loves it, but I can't gauge how appreciative mom will be since the iPod won't arrive until tomorrow. However, she's been looking forward to getting it since it was announced, and even more so when I got mine, however financially she wasn't sure she would be able to get it at least until the new year, and she has no idea that I ordered it at all.

So yeah, what's the most thoughtful gift you've gotten for someone you cared about?

Does bailing my ex out of jail count?

I guess that depends on how grateful she was.

I framed the first picture of myself and Kathy when we met and mailed it to her. She loved it.

Anything from Tiffany (not the 'I think we're alone now' one) to the old 'trouble', Maximum appreciation, minimum effort (unfortunately, maximum overdraft as well...)

The best thing I have given? I've only recently been paying for presents out of my own money, admittedly saved pocket money, so the little jewelled watch I got mum made her weep.

No, I payed for it. It obviously wasn't a several hundred £ expense, but it was a good £60/£70.

When I was a little girl (no short jokes Nick and Stitch) I bought my mother a Snoopy mug. It was wrapped too tight and broke before I got home with it. She glued it together and still has it, along with about 200 others (what I started).

I give myself to my girlfriend every day... Does that count? :P

Gave my ex to one of my friends... Is that good?

Gave my mother a heart attack... Is that toughtful? :happydevil:

Seriously, though, I think the best present I gave to someone I care for might be my friend's 2007 Boston Red Sox World Series baseball cap.
He's a great Baseball fan, loves the Red Sox, and so when I went to Boston, I thought it was the best thing I could give him for his birthday.
He's been wearing it every day since he got it, more than 2 years ago...

Got another friend, who is absolutely in love with Japanses culture, a sake cup kit from Japan.

Got my second Godson a rosary directly from Jerusalem, and had it blessed by our local Priest at his Baptism.

These would have to be my best gifts, since I really am not that good a gift giver.
I try to give gifts that people like, but as far as originality or importance, I'm not that good...

One year in December, I had some friends that were about to be evicted from their apartment back in Vegas. I won some money, and walked into the office and paid their rent without saying a word. I paid cash, and signed the receipt "S. Claus."
