Did anyone else see this disaster? I'll give it a 3 1/2 on the 5 star sucks meter. I was hoping for something decent, like Rob Zombies relaunch of Halloween. Dear god this was bad. They changed Freddy's backstory enough that it didn't make any damned sense.
In the original, he was a child murderer. Hence he made the famed glove as a tool for him to use on them. In the remake, he's just another pedophile the parents catch and burn as he cries and begs for his life. So.....how does the glove come into it?
What a waste....any other opinions?

Disaster indeed. I want my money back, and I get in for free.

I... kinda liked the first Nightmare, which is saying something since I normally just plain dislike most horror/slasher movies. So I never bothered with the remake. But yeah, that sounds like some bad messing around.

I saw the first Freddy film when I was 21. I remember sitting in the cinema and listening to the the line: "God, how old do you think I am, 21".

This Freddy wasn't even FUNNY for gods sake. You'd find yourself cheering Freddy on after a while. This guy...........blah.

Not funny because the jokes sucked, or because he didn't even bother making jokes?

IIRC, he didn't make a whole lot of jokes in the original film either. It wasn't until the sequels that he turned into Gilbert Godfried with blades.

In the original, he was still funny. When he lopped off two of his own fingers, and made goo goo eyes at the spurting blood. This guy.....no jokes, no innate sense of humor...nothing.

Well, that's a complete waste of concept!

Absolutely horrible. Jack Haley's no Robert Englund, that's for sure.

Jakie Earle Haley was the only reason I wanted to see this.
I'm still going to give it a shot.
