Partly because it was an empty sub-forum and partly because I watched a lot do Dr. Who at the weekend.

David Tennet by far

David Tennet, he just has this half mad way of doing things which I love.

Tom Baker as I grew up with the latter half of his era - I think it's probably often the case that people like the first Doctor they saw. Not that I disliked Peter Davison, I surprised myself by taking to him quite well.

But Tennant is very good, in fact his Doctor is quite a bit like Baker's Doctor in many ways.

It's still hard to believe the programme's actually come back on after all those years.

I'm only familiar with Chrstopher Eccleston and David Tennant, and I can't choose a favourite between. Truthfully, when Eccleston left I wasn't sure if I could accept anyone else in the role. Yes, I knew that he was the ninth actor of a character that gets recast on a regular basis, but he left that much of an impression on me. But after watching Tennant, I'm really impressed with him too, and I very quickly accepted him as the Doctor.

Eccleston, although i liked that guy in that one movie, too (i'm descriptive!).

i think that's another vote for the "First Doctor is Your Favorite Doctor" rule.

You're likely referring to Paul McGann, the Eight Doctor.

Tom Baker. I must say Tennant gives him a close run for his money, but the modern Whos are so rushed that the actors can't *quite* do the role justice. And Baker was just sublime.

The old rule that you like the Doctor you grew up on is the best has held for a long time, but the new series has changed things somewhat. The older series where, in my opinion, aimed at a younger audience than today's Who. Because of that the allegiance to the older doctors is falling away. One of the UK TV channels had a whole set of Doctor who last weekend. They featured episodes from all 10 doctors including the feature length film with Paul McGann and Sylvester McCoy.

They also did a poll for favourite doctor and David Tennant won. That's my vote, he's still carrying the hurt of the time war that Christopher Eccleston brought to the part be he also brings back the fun, wild side that Tom Baker gave us. He's also into time repair, fixing major issues and and other larger stuff that Jon Pertwee used to bring.

The low point of the entire franchise has to be under Sylvester McCoy, when he was up against the "licorice all sorts" man. That was the point at which I stopped watching.

tennant wins for me, but I grew up watching Pertwee then Baker.

Tom Baker for me. 'Genesis of the Daleks' was the first series I saw. And I loved him and Romana II together.

Although Tennant's a close second for me.

Patrick Troughton - he had a wonderful quirkyness to him that none of the others seemed to capture.

I started with Eccleston myself though i did know about Dr.Who before then.
Have to say im a Tennant fan, dont know what it is but i like him better.

Having followed Dr Who from the 23 Nov 1963 when first screened untill my move to Germany just over a year ago John Pertwee may be a little underestimated as most of the newer generation of fans will never of heard of him.
