Sci-Fi showed these episodes yesterday and the day before. Is it bad that the highlight of the episode for me was seeing the White House draped with Nazi Flags, seeing the stylish WWII German Uniforms (Say what you will about the Germans, there uniforms were sweet!), and the whole idea of a very different WWII?
I didn't really care for the "star trek" plot, I justed like it as an excuse to see Germans in New York, and shuttlepod shot up by P-51s. Is that bad?

I thought the "alternate WWII" aspect was the best thing about those eps as well.

It was interesting, seeing the "Brooklyn Resistance Front" and all that. I would have liked seeing something about the Na'Kuhl having provided a little more assistance to reach that point - I don't know that simply giving the Nazis a little more dive-bombing and anti-air capability would have changed things THAT much.

That whole thing was just plain bullshit... then again so was most of the series.

The idea that the Nazis could ever have taken the US is idiotic. Unless the aliens also provided them with a fucktonne of troops and tanks as well, I see no possible way for them to be able to hold Europe and the US.
And of course, that's discounting the possibility that they also took the UK and Russia, which would make things a hundred times worse.

One thing I did like about that is that they showed that the Nazis actually weren't going to win... even with alien help they were over-extended, and the ending makes it fairly clear that what we saw was the high watermark of their invasion, before they were about to be rolled back.
It's still hugely unbelievable, of course. Germany just didn't have the ships to send an Army to the US, and it would take years to build them anyway. And the logistics... oy vey. But at least they didn't have the Germans actually winning the whole war on their own.

If the Germans had taken Europe totally, built up there power, trained more troops, they might, might of been able to pull it off. But it would have taken a lot of consilidation of power.

The Germans didn't have the ships to get an army to the UK, let alone the States.

I have an urge to make some prideful comment about the Royal Navy here...dunno why.

The RN didn't really have much to do with that, to be honest. It was a product primarily of Germany's lack of sealift capacity.
That and the RAF's superiority doomed Operation Sealion to failure. Imagining that the United States would fall to an enemy who lacked the ability to take the UK is insane. Even assuming Germany was able to build both the ships and recruit the amount of soldiers they needed, any invasion would be a catastrophe. Just getting them across the Atlantic would be a massive problem when you factor in the USN, and there'd be virtualy no way for the Germans to set up supply lines to any forces that managed to dig in in the US.

Hey, you can still be proud of the RN. The German plan to get across the channel relied in large part on barges, easy pickings for anything MTB class and above.
Wait...that actually doesn't make the RN out to be all that great.

How do you figure this?

Yeah, still not possible. They'd have needed to massively build up their navy to combat the USN, and they'd have needed to construct a hell of a lot of transport ships to get across the Atlantic. Also, the Luftwaffe's numbers would need to be seriously increased.
In addition to that, they'd need to start recruiting a lot more troops to take on the US Army. Those numbers simply aren't available in Germany. You'd need to start conscripting people from the countries you've conquered, and they're going to be far from reliable in combat (they'd probably desert or defect the first chance they get).
Even assuming you somehow manage that and get a foothold in the US, Stalin would probably take the opertunity to invade Germany while the Nazi war machine is on the other side of the planet. In which case Berlin falls rather quickly due to the serious lack of soldiers and tanks available to stop the tide of Soviet forces.
