Matt Smith.

I've never heard of the guy. Looks to be a relatively unknown actor.

He kind of looks like a young version of the guy who starred in V and The Beastmaster. I know I should give it a fair chance but after Eccleston left I really have no interest in the show anymore, the fellow that replaced him made me wonder why The Doctor chose to regenerate into a Magic School bus character.

May as well change the name of the show to Sarah Jane adventures 2 - looks like its turning into a damned show for teen agers. I can't see him having an older assistant - hence turning into a show for teen agers.

Its going to take a good script to get me over my doubts.

I'm getting vast amounts of "meh" in response to this.

A) I've no idea who he is, so I can't say whether he's suited to the role or not.
B)Why so young? Does the Doctor age backwards, or something?

I'll leave it until I see him in an episode to judge, but I'm not ecstatic.

Young makes sense, really. The whole point of regenerations is to extend a Time Lord's life. It's not much of a gain if you get to the end of your life and regenerate into a 90 year old body.

If you want an idea of his physical presence, voice, etc, here's an interview done with him about the role. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhmWRjo7gKI

Marc Singer? Ah boy did I love V. Aliens, Flying saucer, and Michael Ironside.

I think it's out on DVD now, for a ridiculous price. But yeah, Marc Singer.

I do hope they sort out his hair, it's extremely distracting.

Is the teen Doctor influenced by the success of "Twilight?"

Probably, I hadn't thought of that angle
(My 16 yo niece is reading the book at the minute, and she thinks its the best thing since dilithium crystals, despite my protests that emo vampires would get eaten alive by the worms as they slept during the day)

Meh. Vampires stopped being cool long ago.

No, before even that. Probably around the time Deafula was released to the cinemas. I think it went downhill from there.
