okay, i know. Corn Factor: Extremeâ„¢

however, Starfox remains my favorite video game. Starfox 64, to be exact.
i'm a Starfox ace, and am actually proud of my high scores (Woot for 1293) and ability to consistently beat (almost) every level on a single life, yet the game isn't too easy for me, and presents terrific challenges, many of which i have yet to meet, so that, at the pace i play, i anticipate at least another year of fun out of this game.

that game was mint! Im currently going back through old RPG's on PS1...Parasite Eve, FF7, and if I can find it - Brave Fencer Musashi.

the thing here is, i'm a major N64 guy, that was a real golden age for innovation, and i've always had a soft spot for flying games.
therefore, Starfox 64=perfection.

while we're on the subject, anybody know of any other good flying games for N64?

Greatest game of all time. There is always more to do! Break 1200, 1300, then 1400, and set your sights on 1500 (yes, it can be done....use a lot of bombs ... ) And THEN there's always the advanced difficulty level! That game kept my whole family entertained for a good decade! The shame of having your parents break your record urges you on in a very special way...

Half seriously, game development could have just stopped there. Like the romantic composers after Beethoven: Why bother? You can't improve on perfection?....

What about that old side scrolling shooter for PS-1 : G-Darius.

That game was immensely fun, although the craziness of having every enemy boss battleship resemble a kind of sea creature is rather...odd. Really fun though, smashing music, priceless stuff!

I have not played one since the 64 days, but man that was a damm good quality game. I loved the expert mode, had like 1800+ point kills at one point.

Best game ever. Top score is 1095, and that was after a couple months of not playing it. Haven't been able to breach 1200 yet.

Ahh, Starfox 64...it was called Lylat Wars in the UK...

I don't know if it was a different release here, but breaking 1400 was a typical score for me and my crew - my friend who owns at games could get over 2200.

holy crap! I barely get more then 1000. I don't play that often but I never thought you could reach past 2000 points. I have got to buy this for virtual console at some point. My current 64 cartridge has issues with starting up.

When using the virtual console version of StarFox 64, I recommend using the Gamecube controller rather then the classic controller. My score went from 800 to 1000 on the first go.

StarFox 64 is an old N64 game from about 1997. It's now available for download on the virtual console, which is a feature on the Wii. You can hook up either the Gamecube controller or the Classic type Wii controller to the Wii so you can play it. The classic controller is flat, like the old NES and SNES consoles, while the Gamecube controller has hand grips like the original N64 controllers. In fact, the Gamecube is a more efficient version of the N64 controllers.

Trust me, you'll want to play this game. You'll laugh at the 10 year old graphics for about five minutes, then you realize how awesome this game is. It was the first game I downloaded for the virtual console.
