I could shoot better than that, and I've never handled a firearm in my life. Especially one that's virtually recoilless.

Your accuracy goes to shit (compared to the range) in actual combat but the equivalent number of RL troops could have held that breach for a good long time if they had SW weapons.

It depends how good their weapons were - if they needed multiple hits to punch through the stormies' armour that might explain their apparently lacklustre performance.

IIRC from about a hundred years ago, the Star Wars RPG counted stormie armor for only a slight modifier against weapons fire. Dunno if that's considered ZZ-plural-Z-level canon, though.

IIRC it was one hit-one kill.

John Stapp took a wee bit more than 10g's.

Well, we see torso-hits knocking Stormtroopers to the ground. But that may just be the impact knocking them down. If their armour was capable of taking a few shots, that may explain how there were so few Stromtrooper casualties, and how the defenders were able to do damn all.

Momentarily - IIRC the world record is something ridiculous like 140g's when a guy crashed his F1 car which was going about 200 mph and came to halt in - well - a very, very, very, short period of time. I'm pretty sure 10g sustained for a good minute or two will kill a man.

Also you have to figure the landing. I've seen guys get knocked out from a 60 foot drop into the water when they don't land right. That and the broken bones... Hitting deck plate at 10g's would make a mess of someone's face.

From 60 feet up I'd be very surprised if someone didn't get knocked out and didn't break bones. For that matter I wouldn't be too surprised if they were killed.

Not necessarily - I doubt it would if they hit feet-first. :P

Its not so bad if you keep your body in the right position.

True enough. Though if they weren't ready for it then you can expect a nasty kiss... :P

Such as? Land head-first and the result's obvious. Land feet-first and your spine will go straight through your skull. Landing on your back, belly or side will probably break your ribs and inflict severe internal injures. Hitting water from that high up would be like hitting concrete.

Wow. Twice in one thread, on the same day!

And, a video. They do this all the time.
