We have only once that I can remember seen gravity cranked up and that was in the mirror universe.

There is no reason to assume gravity can be cranked up to 90G's. Why the hell would you make a device that is supposed to create 1g of gravity have the ability to go to 90g? Maybe to 5g, but the Borg being what they are would probably be able to easily survive that.
Why would you build a navigational deflector that was a more powerful weapon then your purpose built ones? Starfleet (or whoever designs and builds their ships) seem to shove in equipment with capabilities both bizarre and beyond ridiculous.

That was a one shot that also if I remember correctly damages the deflector. It just acted as a channel of sorts.

Yes it was but it still raise the issue of why they built in such excess capacity or why it would have the ability to channel all that energy. It's a ship, they can go around stuff that would need all that to deflect. It's just to illustrate the bizarre capabilities they put in the ships. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they designed the grav plating to go to a bajillion G's in case the on board bee hives got loose or something.

In Voy we've seen the Borg die from being exposed to space. Gravity is up to the ability of the ship in question. Though even at 5G's the borg's bio parts would start suffering problems.

You really like to uber up the borg don't you teaos? A hidden crush maybe???

The best reason (or what we have in place of one) I've heard was that the troops on board the Tantive IV were more likely to be old rental cops and not real soldiers. They lacked the moral or ability to stand against Storm Troopers (how shitty do you have to be to fail in a shoot out against storm troopers again?) in a rush attack.
They had what, 50 troops against the ISD's Legion? That would put off anyone but a Space Marine, though I often wondered why they didn't toss in a grenade or tow before they came through.
Then why fight at all. They should have had everyone just jump ship on pods and shuttles and run for the planet. Then spread out with multiple copies of the plans. Someone is bound to make it back alive.

As to a grenade being used on a docking clammed area with open space outside.... I just don't see that ending well.

They should have, yes. I had thought resisting the boarding was just to buy time for the Princess to get the plans off. Your suggestion has merit unless they start shooting down escape pods, which was implied at any rate.

Why? The stormies can survive vacuum for a while and the grenade doesn't have to be powerful enough to breach the hull. Real life grenades aren't extremely powerful after all and one would think that the stormies would have access to grenades that are designed to be hull safe.

The point of having people in every pod is it increase the chances of just one pod getting away. That could mean as many as 6 copies of the plans getting away. Six chances for just one of them to make it off planet.

Its not just the vacuum but also the blast force of the hull being breached. Plus if one side starts using nads, the other side is likely to respond in kind. Plus, what is the most common nad in SW? To my knowledge its the thermal. Big blast! If you're near the hull when you lob one of those then you're going to be outside enjoying the ships paint job real quick.

I really don't see how that's possible given the only reason R2's pod wasn't shot down was there weren't any life signs. Nut hey, put a droid in each pod.

Yes it's the most common grenade, it is not the only grenade however. The RPG books and IIRC the EGTW listed several types, including a nerve gas grenade and stun grenades.

Thats be the Rebs waited until the ISD had already grappled with them. The Smart thing to do would have been to skim right about the planet and drop everyone you can. Sent the Blockade Runner to ram the ISD. That should buy to you some time.

Ok then, lets make it a 75% chance (seems fair since thats about the rating for nads even in the RPGs) that someone from either side would have a Thermal. Now, someone throws a nad... do you want to bet your life that anyone of those 50 rebs on board won't get desprite? They know they can't win... not really much to lose. What do you figure your odds are that they'll return the favor in spades?

What?! You do realise that artificial gravity can counteract millions of g's when the ship accelerates? Thus must be able to produce that gravitational strength.
Even if that weren't possible, instead of cranking up the artificial gravity - just turn it off in the section of the intruder, accelerate the ship to, let's say, a million miles per hour, then clean.

nice to see you again Thorin...it's been a while...

and is the grav plating the same as the inertial dampeners?

Doesn't matter, but I'd say 99.99% yes. The fact that inertial dampers must cover 360 square degrees around you, and the fact they are made to create/oppose acceleration means they create gravity. If you'd have underfloor inertial dampers to create gravity, and underfloor gravity plating to create gravity, it'd seem a bit pointless... Though this is Starfleet

If the Imperials had tossed even a standard frag in there most of those Rebels would be dead Deep, they were so tightly packed. And the Rebel troopers didn't even have grenades on them. The only visible grenades where on the stormtroopers and even then I mentioned they could have used other types.
