I thought the damage was due less to Carter's, Derry's, and Hamdi's actions and more to the simple fact of the oils used causing adhesion between the mummy, wrappings, and casket.

Nozzle is made up of the Sandman gun from Logan's Run, the Space 1999 laser, and the Forbidden Planet blaster pistol.
Behind that, the M-41A from Aliens.
Big pistol behind that - the gun from Alien Nation, I think.
Behind that, Deckard's police gun from Blade Runner.
Same level as Deckard's gun but a couple back is the Noisy Cricket from Men in Black.
TOS Phaser Type 2 behind that.
Two below the cricket, the large one is from District 9 I think.
Below and to the right of that is a Babylon 5 PPG.
Below that, I think is Crichton's pistol from Farscape.
Below that, Judge Dredd's gun from the Stallone movie.
Below the District 9 gun on the left is the laser pistol from The Black Hole
To the right of that, I think, is the pistol from the new Battlestar Galactica series.
Bottom left is the ZF-1 from The Fifth Element
At the top is teh Ja'far blaster staff.
The one below that and to the left is the laser pistol from the V miniseries.
I think the top left one is Robocop's gun.
That leaves 4 I don't recognise.
Below and to the right of the Ja'far blaster staff looks like a common gun from TNG

It was but the stupidity of it was that they kept going at it until it came off. Unlike today where they would have eventually figured it out without seriously damaging the mummy.
Different time I guess.

You have to realize that Carnarvon's expedition was only about a decade or so after the period that mummies were excavated and used as fuel for campfires.
