I just hated the Ori arc.
What does defeat mean to you?

It would have gone better with the idea that humans were quickly becoming the Fifth race, but I am not so sure how well it would have fit with the series concept.
The political intrigue did play a solid part in some episodes, and was rather important overall, but SG-1 was not about politics.
The Ori arc was... intriguing. If I remember correctly, SG-1 was about to be cancelled earlier, so after defeating the Goa'uld and still having seasons left to run, they needed to bring some baddies into the game.
