When my wife first tried to get me to go see Titanic, I told her, "Why bother? The damn thing's going to sink."

Not a fan of historical films, then? :P

Actually, I am of some. Many semi-fictional ones piss me off when they take license with the facts for no dramatic reason...

but the above was merely an excuse to avoid seeing Titanic.

An excuse for seeing Titanic? I have taste? I have testicles? While Kate Winslet is rather actrative it is not worth sitting through hours of crap just to see her tits.

Agreed 100%. I had the misfortune of being dragged to that movie. Never was I more pleased to see a ship sinking, purely for the fact that it heralded the end of that film.

I wholeheartedly agree. When I got dragged along, that was at least a good signpost. I remember thinking "ok, ships sinking, almost over." Had no idea how long it took a friggin ship to sink though.

We must at least thank the writers of Trek for not bringing us a "Starship Titanic". Thank heavens.

Really now? It's not a bad movie. I resisted watching it for years, but for the love of god, it's a thoroughly watchable movie. A few sappy parts, but there's some nice action bits and a well written story line.

I ended up seeing it - it's completely pure and uncut saccharine.

Titanic. I was glad he died at the end.

The only good bit is the guy who lets go of the railings as the ship tilts, then whacks his legs on his way down and goes spinny spinny - and you can see that bit in the music video.

That said, 3 minutes of Celine Dion is almost as painful and 3 hours watching the film.

Personally, I quite enjoyed when the smoke stack tower falles and squishes those poor sods trying to swim away.

To quote Bart Simpson, "smashy, smashy"

My father told me that a cruise company wants to build a Titanic-II. That worries even me.

I guess people all want to show how "un-superstisious" they are

Have they never realized that we have a word for things like that?
