Re: I Hate Enterprise
Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel. I'm tempted to say that the theory of evolution was raped in that episode but I don't think it adequately covers the soul crushing violation that was inflicted on the concept. And how could Phlox possibly know that the Valaxians continued survival would prevent the Menk from evolving? Heck, even with the Prime Directive this choice would be reprehensible. "Sorry, we could fix you but... well we just won't. Your natural development is obviously to die. We wouldn't want to get in the way of that." WTF?
Archer, "We're not out here to play god." But that's just what I'm going to do.

Whew. I forgot how fricking retarded that episode was. It's almost worse than Threshold.

It's up there with Threshold. Threshold is incredibly stupid, Dear Doctor tries to put a happy face on genocide. They're horrific in their own unique ways.

Re: I Hate Enterprise
Threshold isn't really horrific. It's stupid in every concievable way, butchers every field of science you can think of, is constructed on an idiotic plot point that every already knows the conclusion to, and is completely fogotten about in future episodes.
Basicaly, it's an amalgamation of all the problems that plagued VOY.
Dear Doctor, on the other hand, uses a fucked up and perverted vision of evolution to justify genocide, letting billions of people die when they could have helped, and began preaching about how moral their choice was. Agony Booth put it well with their analogy of the guy with a life preserver standing by and watching a man drown without trying to help him. At least that guy isn't going to go home and say how doing nothing was the right choice.
Dear Doctor was the point at which I stopped watching ENT. I simply couldn't look at the characters the same way again after that.

Re: I Hate Enterprise
There's the rub. "Threshold" was just unconscionably stupid. "Dear Doctor" was actively bad.

I tend to be somewhat more forgiving than most when it comes to plot wholes and stupidity, but Dear Doctor puts the fucking nutcrackers on it. There's no way any morally sane person in the planet could even consider agreeing with it. This is Enterprise For Hitler.

Re: I Hate Enterprise
Exactly. Threshold was just dumb. Dear Doctor was downright repulsive.

I should probably see that at some point.

What, Producers?
I never actually saw it, just heard that song, and when I heard the premise I couldn't help but laugh.
