Yeah, if we were to do a forum-based true dice-driven game it would be stupidly long between responses if I were to GM it.

The dice scale would be good for large scale combat so that all the players aren't writing over each other. For the regular storyline, people should just write things out for themselves.

Shooting is easy. We'll go by BS scale from table top. Seeing how we'll be shooting a lot more shots per turn (figure turns would be best for large group combat) everyone will still have a good chance of hitting their target. BS is easy. Maybe you're the kind of person who shouldn't even hold a firearm to start with, BS 1. If your character is a poor shooter then BS 2. If they're an ok shooter then they get BS 3. If they're skill is like Special Forces then they get BS 4. Maybe you're the expert sniper that kids pretend to be, BS 5. A roll of 1 is always a miss.

We should also have a hit point scale so that we don't die in a single hit or this will be a very short RP. 40k involves a lot of shooting.

Hand to hand combat, the GM can deal with that well enough. Players send in what they want to do and GM runs with it. Again this is only for large combat. If you're alone, you can do whatever the hell you want. Keeps the game moving when people are apart and keeps it streamlined when people are together.

What do you think Mikey? Is that simple enough?

Fits perfectly. I really wouldn't want dice-rolling or game mechanics to get in the way. As you say, group-to-group combat is really the only time when dice-rolling would take precedence. Even then range shouldn't be too much of an issue except in one-off circumstances, in which case I (or we) could just decide what to do.

Agreed, here's a basic skill chart. I'm using my character so everyone can have a starting point.

Stats chart.
WS - 4 - My character is a highly trained combat veteran.
BS - 4 - My character is again highly trained but not a sniper.
Str - 3 - He's a normal human.
T - 3 - Again, he's a normal human.
A - n/a - This really isn't numbered in real fighting.
W - I was thinking that this would be marked by where the wound hit and the GM's call.
In - 3 - Yet again, human.
Ld - 8 - I'd guess instead of just failing once, if you fail enough times in a row that your character breaks and runs or w/e.

Equipment.
Armor save - 4+ - Modified Carapace Armor. Also comes with a full head protection. NCB, IR+NVG+MoTrack and your everyday tinted eye filters.

This guy would have an Invul against gas, chem, bio and flashbangs. Also means that a bare handed punch would most likely break your hand before it hurts me. He is well covered. One big problem, he's very heavy and would start to slow down after a while. So the GM wouldn't allow me too out run someone who's not in heavy armor. I wont be winning any sprints either. He'll over take anyone of In 1 or In 2 but people with In 3 might have a chance to over take him if they're lighter and faster.

I need to read that rule book again.

Does WS (weapon skill) include bladed or thrown weapons?

I shall go with what I figure best represents a Feral Worlder:

WS-4: HIghly experianced melee fighter
BS-3: Decent with a ranged weapon (not much ammo to go around at home)
Str-4: Life is hard, manual labour a way of life
T-4: Lots of shitey food and toxins at home
A-N/A
W-
In-3: Average intelligence
Ld-: Dunno what that is.

Note: I adapted these numbers from the table in DH, cause I don't have whatever scale Deepcrush is using.

Armor save-2+ :Grox hide and furs don't stop much but it allows the PC to move fast.

Yes it does, however if you're character is extra skilled in certain weapons then we could add a modifier.

He's using a different system that what is in Dark Heresy, which works up to 100. So my WS in DH would be 80 for example.

WS includes thrown and bladed weapons.

Go ahead and pm me your base stats and we'll work things out.

BTW, 'In' isn't used the same as 'Int' from D&D. 'In' is the base for how fast your character is.

OK - initial brief is up. I've renamed a couple of threads: one for questions/comments/changes to dice rolls/game mechanics/rules, etc.; and one for comments on the storyline or for other OOU comments.

I will have an introductory piece game post up either tonight or early tomorrow.

Yeah i'm ready to start too :D

I am currious though, what our legal powers are. Can we kill indiscrimently or do we have to have warrants or what

Thats up to our boss. As long as we are on his payroll, we can kill anyone we want. The problem is that we also what to stay under the radar. Leaving bodies everywhere wouldn't help with that.

Well, quiet killing is Pahr's thing, so I won't be any trouble.

BTW, he's a point-and-shoot sort of guy, so he won't kill unless ordered to by Mikey's character. OTOH, he wouldn't just stand there waiting for orders if an enemy was trying to escape, or alert others.
