Would you share a room with him? Besides for some bizarre reason he was part of the Command Staff, that probably got him his own. Or roomie died in the Cartakers attack.Rochey wrote:Really? Ensign Kim had his own quarters.

I wonder how much undercapacity Voyager was running at.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Memory Alpha claims they lost over a dozen in the intial incident. Of a possible crew of upto 200.

That's a fair number dude, enough to seriously hamper operations. Not helped by the fact that (convienantly) they were senior/vital people.

Then the Intrepids may do things differently. But in Lower Decks, one of the reasons Lavelle wanted to get promoted to Lieutenant was so that he could have his own room.

Re: Graham's Galaxy Class Diplomatic Capability
They'd have had to give Kim his own quarters. If they put him in with other Ensigns, he'd surely notice when they got promoted and then moved out about once a month.

Perhaps Kim had his own quarters since he was a bridge officer. Trek does seem to regard jobs on the bridge as some kind of holy of holies.

He was also head of Ops, IIRC. That'd probably get him a bit of an upgrade.
'Course, you'd think he'd get a promotion as well.

Re: Graham's Galaxy Class Diplomatic Capability
Hey now, just because a Lieutenant Commander department head guy was killed, leaving a vacancy in rank and position that Kim filled, are you saying that Kim should ahve got the rank to go along with the responsibilities and role he was filling?
Why that's crazy talk!

Seems long odds, then, that they'd lose their doctor, nurse, first officer, helmsman out of the 12 they lost. Shitty odds!Cpl Kendall wrote:Teaos wrote:Only a dozen? i thought it was a lot more?

Don't you hear my call, though you're many years away, don't you hear me calling you?

It is, Kim had neither the time in or the experiance to be a Lt. Cmdr or head Ops. At best the most he should have got was a brevet promotion and if they made it back he could have been confirmed.
