You're allowed to here as well. At least in PA, though it can only be for I believe two weeks at a time before you must return to the classroom.

You're not?

Mostly in protest over the current government's neverending fuckups and the atrocity that will be next year's budget. The government's ran out of money, and is going to be cutting services like crazy. Naturally, education is going to be one of the areas being heavily hit.

We can't strike in New York. If a teacher strikes, they lose their job (and can't do jack about it).
Unless the entire union declares a strike (officially), then the teachers cannot be fired (if enough participate, however many that is).

Today, I was talking to the red-head you all know about by now, yeah, she asked about some homework, and then she asked about putting her into a story since I told her about my writing, and now she's like extatic about it... So there may be a redhead that comes around every once in a while in my stories...
But yeah, also, I had an unexpected fir drill today, and it was about 60 degrees out, and I had a jacket, but I'm at home in 60 degree weather, and so I offered it to a friend, and she was like extatic about that...
It's only the first day of the week and I already impressed 2 girls... I guess I'm tryingto work fast since I only have 2 and a half days this week, which for me actually means 3 since I get out when I would have this half day anyway, so for me it's nothing spectacular, but yeah, I hope I have this good of a role for the next 2 days, haha
Also there's a girl who is in my psych class who will stare at me and try not to let me notice, so basically, I look her direction(I do very often actually) and like everytime I do she's looking at me, not in my direction, but like right at me, and I'm behind her and a couple rows over. I think it's kind of funny, because I'm so ADD that I look around everywhere, and end up watching her for a while to see if she looks back, she usually does. Haha, kinda weird...

Da-yum, Nick. I don't think I got that many girls to notice me throughout most of high school. 8)

Haha, well I was raised to be respectful and very polite at all times. And so girls notice me, haha. And they try tone around me apperently, the funny thing is I've heard so many times that these same girls say I'm annoying and yet they try to associate with me, so maybe they like to be annoyed...
But yeah, the girl in psych idk why she seems so interested, but she is. And I really don't feel like confronting her about it, mostly because I know she'll make up some excuse about it... Story of my life, haha, but I really don't mind too much. It just gets a little unnerving that girls can look at me, but they like don't want to say anything to me... Whatever, haha.
It also seems that I'm a tech guru, as everyone asks me how to do stuff on iPods, computers, Internet, game systems... Anything, and I can always give them an answer. But again, girls seem to like geeky guys. So win one for the geeky guys. Haha
Today I was also at office depot and some guy who was looking at a computer next to me started asking me about the computer I was checking out, about the user interface, stuff like that. And out of the blue this guy asked me how he might go aboutupgrading his RAM and stuff on his computer, and the effects on his computer. So I answered all his questions, ( IDK why but I'm really trusting , I guess knowing self defense helps, but I'm not really afraid of people) so I think that once I get my working card, or turn 18, whichever happens first, I'll go get a job at some computer store, I would be useful there...

I think the term "strike" presumes that it's a union action. Otherwise, it's not a strike, it's a sick day.
I believe Deep's surprise was in that we didn't know (at least I didn't) if unionization is common practice in the Isles or on the continent.
